Confidentiality & Privacy Policy
The law protects the relationship between a client and a psychotherapist, and information cannot be disclosed without written permission.
Exceptions include:
- Suspected child abuse or dependant adult or elder abuse, for which I am required by law to report this to the appropriate authorities immediately.
- If a client is threatening serious bodily harm to another person/s, I must notify the police and inform the intended victim.
If a client intends to harm himself or herself, I will make every effort to enlist their cooperation in insuring their safety. If they do not cooperate, I will take further measures without their permission that are provided to me by law in order to ensure their safety.
The above information also applies for online services with me. In addition, all email responses will be sent via a secure email system. I highly recommend that you sign up with hushmail.com to secure a free account to communicate with me. If you choose not to, I will send your email response with a secret question that only you will be able to answer to read the response.
For all telephone calls and live chats, if you fail to sign on within ten minutes of our scheduled time, I will sign off and you will have missed our session.
This website is for adults only and if you are in acute crisis please contact your local mental health provider, call 911, or visit your emergency room.
Internet On Line Counseling Agreement - By participating in this service you are agreeing that:
- You are 18 or older and is not currently participating in therapy
- You are not feeling suicidal or self destructive
- You are not under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs
- You are authorized to use your credit card
- If your problem is better for an in office appointment, a referral will be made
