I am Dr. Denese G. Marshall a licensed clinical psychologist with specialty in forensic psychology practicing in St. Croix, U.S. Virgin Islands. I am licensed through the VI Board of Psychology Examiners #09-027-PSY.
I was born on the island of Trinidad, the land of calypso. My parents relocated the family to St. Croix and made St. Croix our home for many years. I am rich with Caribbean heritage and culture. I decided to return to St. Croix after attaining my higher education because I love the Caribbean culture and wanted to help my West Indian people with the skills that I have acquired abroad. Many times as Caribbean people we end up being treated by healthcare providers who aren’t familiar with our customs and culture. Therefore, this is the driving force for me to return to the Caribbean to practice psychology.
I attended St. Thomas University in Miami, Florida and obtained a Bachelors of Science Degree in Psychology with a minor in Sociology. I also have two Masters of Sciences Degree one in Guidance and Counseling and the other in Clinical Psychology. In 2004, I graduated with my Doctoral Degree in Clinical Psychology with specialty in Forensics from Albizu University in Miami, Florida. I have been working in the field of psychology for the past 15 years helping others with psychological, behavioral, and substance abuse issues. Throughout the 15 years of working in the field of psychology, I have held positions to include a primary and child therapist, social worker, school guidance counselor, substance abuse therapist, Director of the Division of Mental Health, Alcoholism, & Drug Dependency Services, Director of Forensic Services, and most recently, I am currently the Chief Police Psychologist for the Virgin Islands Police Department. I also have my private practice in St. Croix providing psychological services to children, adolescents, adults, couples, and family therapy.
As an individual, I have a keen sense that my calling in life is to help others who are experiencing uncertain times in their life. From a young girl, I have always reached out to help others. My mission in life now is to connect people to allow them to live a more balanced life through their mind, body, and soul.
I have developed this website to reach as much individuals as possible to assist them in living a more productive and meaningful life without visiting a doctor’s office. If for any reason you are experiencing an acute or chronic psychological problem, I highly recommend that you schedule a face-to-face appointment with your local mental health provider. This website is designed specifically to assist individuals with minor to moderate problems in their life.
